Not being able to find any information on using Australian native woods for woodcuts, I thought it would make a good project to try some out for myself.
If any reader has a 'review' of a particular Australian wood, please email me and I will put your info and link onto my site
"Hewin' Pine"

Huon Pine Woodcut on Mulberry Paper
Huon Pine
A beautiful wood to carve, no wonder so many artisans use it. This is a protected species now, so wood supplies are finite. It was almost a crime to cover the honey coloured wood with indelible ink, but worth the experience.
"Rosewood"

Scented Rosewoodcut on Kozo
NSW Scented Rosewood
I think I spoilt myself forever using the Huon Pine first. This was a bit splintery, but smelt lovely as hinted by its name. Also a lovely shimmer in the wood.
